This is the first time the restaurant has been shut down since 2005. Sababa generally receives A grades during SNHD inspections.

Ironically, the Sababa Website notes that the restaurant’s “Mashgiach is Adam Caruthers from Congregation Shaarei Tefillah, with supervision by Rabbi's Wasser (Shaarit Tefillah) and Harlig (Chabad). [Owner] Rami [Cohen] follows the strictest hallachic kashrut laws and allows nothing less than the cleanest of kitchens.”

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
