Scott Sampson's culinary career includes time as a former chef at Andre's Downtown. But he is placing his French-inspired panache on the back burner for his latest venture as owner and chef of Scotty's Kitchen, found inside the Desert Inn outpost of locals' favorite, Rum Runner.
Sampson's menu features his twist on bar food classics with some daily surprises. Chicken wings are served American or Korean style, alongside onion rings, hoisin green beans and his "Backyard," or "hatch green chile cheeseburger." Among the "sammys," a Philly cheese steak, meatball sliders and a pulled pork sandwich.
Daily specials have included soup, sliders and desserts and occasional dishes like smothered peppers, country fried turkey cutlet and crispy risotto balls "stuffed with ooey gooey provolone, Scotty's marinara and shaved Parmesan."
Sampson will return to his roots on Sunday, March 29, at André’s at the Monte Carlo when he joins a star studded line-up of chefs who worked with André Rochat during his 35 years in Las Vegas. They will be creating a special tribute dinner to celebrate Rochat's career, limited to only 120 guests.
