The first thing you notice inside the new Gelato Messina at Downtown Summerlin is the six-meter high mural of Las Vegas, designed by New York-based Australian artist Jeremyville. Once you’re done studying this artwork that even crawls along the ceiling, find giant mounds of the Australian company’s gelatos made from scratch in an area where guests can watch the artists at work. Gelato Messina takes an approach, "How would they have made it 100 years ago?" Then they grind pistachios, bake apple pies and brownies, or stew spiced rhubarb to create the ingredients in their flavors, including five specials served five days a week.
