Alex Stratta is finally ready to debut his off-Strip restaurant Tapas by Alex Stratta. The two Michelin-starred chef opens his new restaurant in the former Poppy Den space at Tivoli Village on Wednesday, April 8, with dinner served nightly from 5 to 10 p.m.

Stratta plans to serve rice and paella dishes, including classic Valenciana and mixta, as well as seafood, meat and poultry plates, seasonal vegetable, fruit and imported cheese selections. Also expect weekly and daily specials.

Behind the bar find riojas, tempranillos, cavas and other Spanish wines by the glass and bottle, as well as house made red and white sangrias. Five Spanish beers are among the bottles and taps. Cocktails here use Spanish sherries, as well as the classic Agua de Valencia, made with cava, orange juice, vodka and gin.

Starting April 17, the restaurant serves up happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. and a reverse happy hour from 9 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The 5,401-square-foot restaurant features a rustic look in yellow with red and white accents. Wrought iron lighting fixtures, eclectic mirrors and artwork inspired by chefs decorate the space. The bar area features dark woods, sandstone and red furniture. Outside, a 2,000-square-foot patio features its own bar along with heaters and misters. Diners can also use a private upstairs dining room and balcony area.

The front of the house is led by Candice Kinsey, formerly of Wolfgang Puck’s restaurants, as the director of operations and general manager Madalena Rodriguez. Executive chef Aaron Losch and chef de cuisine Nathan Gerard head up the kitchen.

OpenTable is already accepting reservations here.
