Abyssinia, the Ethiopian restaurant at 4780 W. Tropicana Ave., came within two points of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on March 4.
The 39-demerit inspection found no hot and cold running water from an approved source, staff improperly washing their hands, an inadequate number of hand washing facilities, inaccurate thermometers, food unprotected from potential contamination and more.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
