Meet Jamaal Taherzadeh, the new chef at Border Grill at Mandalay Bay, who gets a proper introduction to the public with a tequila dinner with Hornitos Tequila on Thursday, March 12.
Taherzadeh started his career as a sous chef at Ciudad C.F. in Dallas, and then moved to Las Vegas to be a line cook at Nobu as well as sous chef at the now-defunct Simon Kitchen & Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel. He also worked as chef de cuisine and executive chef at Impala Restaurant & Lounge and Jones Steakhouse in the San Francisco area. Taherzadeh then returned to Vegas to work at the former Cathouse at the Luxor, Simon Restaurant & Bar inside Palms Place and Sapphire Pool & Dayclub. He also worked at Café Habana and The Gerber Group in Malibu, handling all culinary operations in Rande Gerber Restaurants.
Chris Keating, who was at Border Grill at Mandalay Bay and then moved to the new location at the Forum Shops, left the company "on amicable terms."
