As promised, Beni Velazquez is returning to Desert Shores, but with a new name. The former Bar + Bistro chef debuted Latin Fish in the shuttered Garfield’s space on New Year’s Eve, then surprised everyone by closing less than a month later to re-tool the concept.
This second version of his seafood and tapas grill will now be called Isabela's and launches with a grand opening on April 22 at 4:30 p.m. Further details on any changes to the menu or new opening hours have yet to be released. So far, the tattooed mermaid logo and signature red chandeliers remain the same.
Rumors also point to an eventual re-branding of Velazquez's adjacent Republic Cafe, his version of a Cuban coffee shop and bodega.
