Sin City is home to a lot of restaurants and bars, but there are tons of hidden gems that the majority of Las Vegans aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's food players to share their recommendations for a weekly feature dubbed Dining Confidential. Laurent Tourondel may be all French, even working as a chef to the admiral of the French Navy, but he’s all about the burger. He runs restaurants such as BLT Burger at the Mirage. He’s worked in France and London at Boodle’s. He was even the executive chef at Palace Court Restaurant at Caesars Palace and at numerous restaurants in New York City. Here he shares three of his favorite burgers in Las Vegas. But when at his BLT Burger, Tourondel recommends the I-80 Burger. "It comes with peppercorn-crusted bacon, smoky-sweet barbecue sauce, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar cheese and pickles," he says.
Which restaurants do you turn to when you’re not working?
When I’m in Las Vegas and craving a burger, I head over to Bobby's Burger Palace at Crystals, Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay or Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at MGM Grand.
What do you like to order there?
The New Mexico burger at Bobby's Burger Palace is great! It's topped with queso sauce, roasted green chilies and pickled red onions.
At Burger Bar, I recommend the spicy lamb burger. Along with Australian lamb and secret spices, it has tomatoes, micro cilantro, spicy Burger Bar ketchup and a ciabatta bun.
The grilled prime burger with Vermont cheese and smoked onion marmalade at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is also a must try!
Do you have a favorite side dish at any of these restaurants?
My favorite side dish is the buttermilk zucchini fries at Burger Bar. They have great flavor and I order them every time I visit!
