Mia Kosher Bakery at 2223 N. Rampart Blvd. came within two points of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Wednesday, April 22.
The bakery earned 39 demerits during the routine inspection. SNHD found the staff improperly washing their hands, ineffective pest control measures, no hot or potable water from an approved source, food unprotected from potential contamination and more.
Mia Kosher Bakery demerits
SNHD first inspected the bakery in December and issued 40 demerits, one away from shut down. A Jan. 6 re-inspection brought the bakery back to zero demerits.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
