With only 10 items on the menu, The Flame Broiler specializes in a healthy alternative to fast food and enough market share to dare to call themselves the "Rice Bowl King." Created in California in 1995, the franchise has now passed the 200-locations milestone, expanding to Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma and now a shuttered Quizno's on the westside.
The Las Vegas Flame Broiler will occupy 1,253 square feet, plus outdoor seating, at the Rainbow Business Center, next door to a Starbucks.
The brief menu offers the choice of a bowl, or a plate, filled with the option of chicken, beef, steamed broccoli, cabbage and carrots, brown or white rice and the company's own version of teriyaki sauce. The plates arrive with a cabbage salad, sesame dressing and "seasonal fresh fruit." Combinations of the ingredients can be mixed and matched. Their optional "Magic Sauce," mild or hot, is also a favorite.
To earn the "healthy" tag, the company promises, "Absolutely No Frying, No added MSG, NO DAIRY, No Skin, and No Trans-fat."
The Rainbow Boulevard location is under construction and no opening timetable has been announced.
