The 44 demerits from the Southern Nevada Health District weren’t the only thing that shut down Island Style at 3909 W. Sahara Ave. The Hawaiian and Korean restaurant also had a pest infestation during the April 6 routine inspection, and that called for an immediate shutdown.
SNHD inspectors also found spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination, an inadequate number of hand washing sinks and more.
Island Style demerits
In February, the restaurant went through a 39-demerit C-grade inspection that was bumped up to an A on March 5. Since 1994, the restaurant has been shut down twice.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
