Swish, swish. Yojie Japanese Fondue, pronounced yo-gee-ay, is now swishing at Village Square. The restaurant out of Los Angeles with co-owner comedian Jo Koy serves up shabu shabu, a dish meant to be swished in a broth before it’s eaten with rice.

Guests in the 32-seat restaurant first choose a broth — sukiyaki, spicy miso or tonkatsu — that cooks on a burner in front of them. Then they select proteins such as chicken, kurobuta pork, pork belly, sashimi belly or Japanese beef. Guests then drop vegetables and proteins into the broth to let it cook, maybe five seconds at most for Japanese beef and longer for vegetables. Sakes and Japanese beers round out the menu.
