Already home to the Peace Ethiopian Market & Cafe, the westside's Flamingo Retail Centre will host a second authentic East African dining experience later this year. Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar is readying to remodel a shuttered tuxedo retail store around the corner from the market and a couple of blocks west of the Palms.
Occupying 4,350 square feet, the new venture is named after the nickname of the 3.2 million-year-old, human ancestor skeleton discovered in Hadar, Ethiopia, in 1974.
While plans for the supper club are in their early stages, the owners promise to feature authentic ethnic dishes, imported spices "and other edible items indigenous to that part of the world." The project has already sailed through the first round of Clark Country approvals, with their representative touting local Ethiopia residents as one of the fastest growing communities in the county.
