Akira Back’s Yellowtail on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles shuttered back in April after six months, and now the restaurant plans to return, soon, under a new name and new concept. The restaurant changes over to El Sushito, a Mexican and Japanese fusion place “where east meets south” with more of a focus on cocktails. Back says he won’t be involved in El Sushito, which tentatively reopens on June 5.
But don’t worry about Akira. Back still has Yellowtail at the Bellagio in Las Vegas as well as Kumi at Mandalay Bay. His eponymous restaurants in Jakarta and New Delhi, soon to be joined by a third in Bali, Indonesia, and a fourth in Dubai.
