Wahlburgers Las Vegas Downgraded to Only 'Possible'

Don't hold your breath waiting for a Wahlburgers to debut in Las Vegas this year.

A bucket of cold water has been officially dumped on your chance to experience an "Originally from Dorchester" burger lunch at Wahlburgers Las Vegas later this year.

The burger franchise from executive chef Paul Wahlberg and celebrity brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg is expanding at a rapid pace, but their Strip location at the Grand Bazaar Shops is no longer at the top of their priority list.

While 66 stores based on their original Hingham, Mass., restaurant are scheduled to debut over the next "several years," including three once penciled in for Las Vegas, an officially released timetable puts the Strip right at the very back of the line.

"Six to eight stores are slated to open in 2015 as follows: In Q2, Wahlburgers will open in Lynnfield, MA, and Coney Island. In Q3, a third Greater Boston location will open near Fenway Park. Wahlburgers' second unit in Toronto will open this fall in Terminal One of Toronto Pearson International Airport with additional openings possible by year's end in Orlando, Philadelphia, New York and Las Vegas - all subject to lease negotiations and construction schedules."

As Eater Vegas recently revealed, Wahlburgers' Grand Bazaar landlord estimated only one major dining anchor will arrive at their Strip-facing, open-air mall in the next six months. All signs point to that now being an alcohol and small dish serving Starbucks.

Back in January, the family's A&E realty TV show showed chef Paul and brother Donnie deliriously touring their future Vegas outpost. Since then, no signage has be added and any construction progress has been kept well hidden behind closed doors.
