It takes an insider to know how to best take advantage of the still problematic dining scene at Lake Las Vegas. Chanthy Walsh has managed to buck the trend and successfully operated Sonrisa Grill at the lake since 2008. She's now expanded into the shuttered Bernard's Bistro space with a new steak and seafood concept Essence & Herbs.
Executive chef Ricardo Diaz is in charge of the menu, four months after he was made executive chef at Sonrisa Grill. He is joined by sous chef Mike Rizzo, best known as the personal chef to UFC president Dana White.
The menu includes appetizers like $16 crab cakes, $14 filet mignon beef tartar and $3 oysters. Steaks are Certified Angus Beef, aged 28 days, including a 16-ounce ribeye listed at $39, a 20-ounce bone-in New York for $46 and their Colorado rack of lamb for $47. A Chateaubriand dinner for two with salad, two sauces, one side and dessert is available for $99.
Also served daily, sole, halibut, scampi and lobster tail. Sides include mac and cheese and baked yam. For dessert, the selections include bananas Foster and crème brûlée.
Featuring patio dining, brunch is scheduled on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a daily happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. offers half-off deals on appetizers and salads.
