Village Square has lost some fusion, but will gain some Japanese sparks. 808 Tapas East-West Infusion shuttered their doors in May, after a long rumored switcheroo was in the works.

Originally set to be called Octopus Sushi, the next tenants have now opted for the Japanese name of Hanabi, translated into English as "fireworks." Jennel Molde, a team member of the eastside's sushi and teppanyaki focused Musashi Japanese Steakhouse, is co-partner in this new venture. No timetable for Hanabi's arrival has yet been revealed.

808 Tapas debuted in August 2012, offering a mix of Asian, Mexican, Italian and Hawaiian inspired dishes, as befitting their name which offered a hat tip to the Hawaii area code.
