You’ll never guess what rock and roll chef Kerry Simon is up to next. The chef, who closed his Simon Restaurant & Lounge at Palms Place and KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers at Harrah’s Las Vegas this spring as he battles with MSA — multiple system atrophy, a rare degenerative neurological illness, plans to open a sexy version of a gastropub. Think light, bright, airy, floral and sexy, much in the feminine steakhouse vein of an STK or Andiron Steak & Sea.
Even more of a blockbuster, he’s teaming up with Scott Frost, the president of Titan Brands, the company behind Slice of Vegas and Hussong’s Cantina, which opens its second Las Vegas location in Boca Park on Thursday. Frost, like Simon, is wheelchair bound, although a motorcycle accident nearly six years ago caused his condition.
The two plan to take over a "well-known and frequented" former restaurant in Henderson, although for now they are keeping mum on the exact address or name of the gastropub.
Cory Harwell, the president of Simon Hospitality Group, is the third name to know here. He heads up Simon’s Carson Kitchen in Downtown Las Vegas as well as Simon’s other restaurants.
