Updating the Fashion Show Mall's $1.5 Million Kona Grill

It will be hard to miss the second local destination for Kona Grill.

The huge upgrades to the Strip-facing entrance of the Fashion Show mall will feature the second local Kona Grill in a prime position. Taking over the shuttered Zara fashion store, which is moving upstairs, the sushi and American appetizer-focused restaurant will have a patio presence in addition to hosting a large space inside the entrance to the mall.

A substantial 8,214-square-feet interior is under construction, plus 1,343-square-feet of patio with views of Las Vegas Boulevard, the Wynn and Encore resorts across the street and the 22,000 square feet of forthcoming retail and dining on the plaza.

With room for 371, Kona Grill's construction budget is currently estimated at an impressive $1.5 million and hopes to entice local fans of their successful Boca Park happy hour. The sushi-focused menu makes it an immediate rival to the almost adjacent and still very much in business Ra Sushi.

While possible changes to existing long-term dining tenants have yet to be announced, new signage is on the way for Italian restaurant Maggiano's Little Italy, a strong hint they will remain a part of the future developments.
