Pelligrini Pizza at 101 S. Rainbow Blvd. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a re-inspection on Wednesday, July 22.
SNHD originally inspected the restaurant on June 22, issuing 38 demerits. During this last inspection, SNHD issued 28 demerits and shut the restaurant down until it can clean up.
Violations included staff not properly washing their hands, food unprotected from potential contamination, grade cards unposted, no one in the kitchen who was knowledgeable about SNHD rules and regulations and more.
The Southern Nevada Health District conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The health district routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
