Roll Into the Barrel-Shaped Booths at Sushi Takashi

Takashi Nakamura’s new Sushi Takashi in the former Hiromaru Ramen space in Chinatown features one of the best omakase deals in town with 10- and 12-course sushi dinners, priced at $29.95 and $39.95. There, that’s out there. The chef with 30 years as a sushi chef is such a wine enthusiast that he incorporated wine barrels into the decor of the restaurant.

Chef Nakamura's Japanese restaurant credentials are found in his work at the 60-seat Fish & Fish in Fukuoka, where last year he introduced American-style sweets and rolls to the menu and in a circular twist, proudly promotes "From Las Vegas" on their restaurant signage. The Hokkaido, Japan-born chef and owner arrived in Las Vegas in 1990, becoming chief sushi chef at Mikado at the Mirage. He then moved across the street to Tsunami Asian Grill & Sushi Bar at the Venetian, before debuting the now closed local chain Xtreme Sushi.

Take a look around the restaurant, where you can dine in one of the dining room's wine barrel booths or at the sushi bar, watching Nakamura work on your dishes before your eyes. Get in here before it gets too packed.
