Has Top Chef judge Hugh Acheson been approached about opening a restaurants in Las Vegas? "I have been, and I’ve always said no because we like our restaurants to be near to us. But it’s something we think about. The one thing that Las Vegas lacks is kinda the food I do, southern-inspired cuisine." He cooks at Border Grill for a Top Chef Masters reunion dinner on Wednesday with Mary Sue Milliken, Susan Feniger and Rick Moonen. Details here. [LVW]

Where does José Andrés like to eat in Las Vegas? Lotus of Siam. "Be sure to order the garlic prawns—they’re deep-fried in their shells and served in a garlicky sauce. It’s like tender, flavorful shrimp wrapped in potato chips. Unbelievable." [Condé Nast Traveler]

Wolfgang Puck put his $8.5 million Beverly Hills mansion on the market, and describes it as "classic, private and chic." The 6,025-square-foot home features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, pool, an antique stone fireplace, a library office and of course a gourmet kitchen in white that looks out on an open great room. Puck purchased the home for $3.68 million in 2004. Joseph Marsco, the president and managing partner of Alizé at the Palms and Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge at Monte Carlo, talks about his management style, more of a slow play of "incremental improvements.… "I try to work with and inspire my team to always improve but never lose focus on the customer and the value of the experience we deliver. If your service staff is improving while your cooks are improving and your chef and management are improving, it is a winning formula. You are a student all your life in this industry, and there is always room for improvement." [VI]

Some of the places on this list of “secret” bars and speakeasies are a bit of a stretch, but shrug. The Golden Tiki, The Paiza Club at the Venetian and Herbs & Rye are neither secret nor speakeasies. [Thrillist]
