Beloved Las Vegas chef Geno Bernardo is back, baby, and he’s ready to take on his next challenge. The former chef of Nove Italiano, who ran the restaurant at the top of the Palms for seven years, will be the new executive chef of Herringbone, the restaurant from former Top Chef contestant and The Taste host and judge Brian Malarkey.

Herringbone slides into the former Gold Boutique Nightclub & Lounge at Aria with an anticipated opening date in late November. Right now the 10,488-square-foot space is  undergoing a $4.2 million renovation that will bring a new bar and exterior patio, as well as a 91-square-foot decorative water feature.

Bernardo tells Eater Vegas that he will include some of Malarkey’s best-known dishes on the menu as well as his own from his culinary career. Right now, he’s testing dishes in the kitchen at Red Square at Mandalay Bay.

Bernardo left Las Vegas in early 2013 to become the corporate chef for David Burke’s restaurants. Then he headed to El Dorado in Cabo San Lucas to run the kitchen that fed the likes of Adam Levine.
