Los Molcajetes, the Mexican restaurant at 1553 N. Eastern Ave., was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a re-inspection on Wednesday, Aug. 4.
SNHD initially inspected the restaurant on July 30, giving it a 28-demerit C grade. Inspectors returned to find food unprotected from potential contamination, an inadequate number of hand washing stations, grade cards unposted and more.
Los Molcajetes demerits
The restaurant has three C grades under its belt since 2012.
The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
