Brock Radke reports for Las Vegas Weekly that Big Ern's BBQ, which started with little more than a tent and a smoker before getting a small space in Container Park, is about to grow off-Strip. "Big Ern's is expanding with a larger restaurant location at Fiesta Rancho, the northwest neighborhood casino," Radke notes, adding that chef Ken Brown has joined the team to "upgrade the menu" and help with the new move.
The company has teased its upcoming expansion twice on Facebook, once in July and once in August, both times with little info and the promise of "More details to follow." Radke, though, says the new restaurant is nearly complete, "Set to open around October 1." If a couple weeks is too long a wait, get into owner Ernie Loya's original location Downtown to try what Radke calls "new-and-improved the gooiest mac and cheese ever" alongside "some of the best brisket in the city."
