SNHD Shuts Down the Restaurant Inside Giant

An imminent health hazard and 44 demerits shuttered the restaurant on Tuesday.

The restaurant inside the Giant grocery store at 4740 E. Owens Ave. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with 44 demerits and an imminent health hazard after a routine inspection.

SNHD inspectors found no potable or hot water at the restaurant. In addition, staff not properly washing their hands, spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination and more propelled the restaurant to the 44 demerits.

The restaurant earned two B grades and the remainder A grades since SNHD starting inspecting the restaurant in 2010.

The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
