Open for less than a year inside the former Chicken Itza space, chicken wing merchants Royal Chicken Plus were shut down by Southern Nevada Health District inspectors on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Located in the same commercial center as the far better known Four Kegs dive bar, Royal Chicken Plus earned 47 demerits on their very first visit from the SNHD team.
Royal Chicken Plus demerits
The long list of violations included improperly washed hands, fresh food and equipment, food unprotected from contamination, unwholesome food and poor food-handling. The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year.
Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
