It may return though.

Streetcar Po-boys, the west side restaurant that specialized in the New Orleans sandwich, is calling it quits for the time being. The restaurant announced on Facebook that a surgery may call for a temporary shutter.

"We regret to inform you that we have closed our doors at Streetcar Po-Boys due to me needing surgery. I have endured the past couple of months with excruciating pain and can no longer hold off the inevitable. As the kids jokingly tell me....I am broken and it's time to get fixed. Not knowing how many months this will take has caused us to make this decision. Words can't express our gratitude to all of you for your support and friendship. We certainly walk away with many new friends that we will continue to stay in touch with forever. We will continue to give updates on our progress and if we anticipate to reopen our doors when Grandma is ‘fixed.’"

Just last spring, the restaurant moved from Oakey to West Charleston Boulevard.
