The true owners might be a mystery, but there's no mistaking the ambition to build yet another downtown bar. Taking over a former residence built in 1942, Downtown Sanchez will make over the 1,235-square-foot interior and turn it into a tavern.
The property stretches back from Fourth Street and will make good use of the space, creating another 3,080 square feet of outdoor seating.
While the brains behind the concept are currently under wraps, they've been plotting for some time, purchasing the building in late June of 2015.
Downtown Sanchez will be located directly across the street from the Juhl residential building and around the corner from ground floor tenants, the Classic Jewel cocktail bar and the forthcoming Greens & Proteins and Le Pho dining options. No timetable for construction, or arrival of the new tavern has been revealed.
