A proposed new shopping center at Wynn Las Vegas is proving to be much larger than expected. One whole floor larger.
Tentatively known as Wynn Plaza, the concept first confirmed by Eater Vegas will sit north of the resort's main gate and be accessible from both the Strip and from inside the casino with an aim to "enhance the visitor experience."
Current paperwork calls for a two-story, plus a storage basement, purpose-built structure, rising to 55 feet. The total footprint will add 86,502 square feet of retail, dining and drinking options, doubling Wynn's current interior 76,000 square feet of designated retail space.
The resort will build a "colored concrete" pathway leading from Las Vegas Boulevard to draw guests into the building and they are holding out the option that "other accessory and incidental uses" might be in its future. The flat-roofed building will also add decorative fabric awnings to keep the sun off pedestrians and plenty of new landscaping will surround the project.
No official announcement or timetable for completion has been released by the resort, but the plaza is working its way through the Clark County approvals process.
