Dong Ting Taste, the Chinese restaurant in Spring Valley at 4850 W. Flamingo Road, came within one point of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
The bevy of demerits reached 40, and included staff not properly washing their hands, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures, single use items used again, inaccurate thermometers and so much more.
Dong Ting Taste demerits
This marks the third time that Dong Ting Taste earned a 40-demerit grade from SNHD. The first came in October 2014 followed by another last June. Both were followed up by re-inspection that raised the grade to an A.
The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
