More than two years after plans for a two-story restaurant in the former home of City Center Motel, Turmeric Flavors of India finally debuted in Fremont East. Saffron Flavors of India owner Rajesh Patel brings Northern Indian- and Punjab-inspired fare to Downtown Las Vegas.

Original plans called for a 72-seat restaurant and bar with an open patio with room for 20.

Turmeric's outdoor deck and rooftop bar host views of Fremont Street and the Container Park's fire-breathing preying mantis statue across the street.

Vegan and gluten-free options can be found on the menu that includes scallops mango coriander with pan seared or tandoor scallops, spiced cauliflower puree, mustard, fresh ripe mango chutney; gilaffi seekh kebab with ground lamb, kashmiri chili, ginger, saffron and basil; and kasundi jhinga with tandoor roasted tiger prawns marinated with west bengal mustard sauce.
