If you think the Las Vegas poke craze has started to slow, the word hasn’t reached Poke Poku, who have debuted their first location in the southwest and already announced plans to expand to Henderson in December, with another location in the northwest also promised to be "coming soon."
Their first "Hawaiian poke bar" sits at the Rainbow Place retail center, next door to the under construction Asia Creamery ice cream shop and close to Cheeburger Cheeburger. Designed by W. G. Constructors, the casual spot is close to the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Rainbow Boulevard.
On the counter service menu, options of small, medium or large poke bowls or salads, priced between $9 and $12, or a poke burrito for $9. A base of rice, salad, or baby kale is chosen, then sides like edamame, crab meat or fried shrimp tempura. Proteins include yellowtail, spicy tuna, shrimp and octopus and finally toppings include tamago, kizami nori and jalapeno.
For desserts, they offer "fish bean," macaron and mochi ice cream and for an unconventional side dish, the "Tornado Potato," a fried spiral-cut potato on a skewer.
Their second location will head to Henderson’s Beltway Plaza, a few doors down from Monta Chaya. The northwest location has yet to be revealed.
