First, Eclipse Theaters brought a long-awaited eight-screen movie theater downtown and added a casual gastropub-style menu to sweeten the deal. Next for the three-story building, another first for the area, the chance to play a full round of golf.
Located close to the Arts District at the corner of Third Street and Gass Avenue, 21 Greens will take over part of the ground floor space early next year, creating five private suites outfitted with indoor golf simulators and let you dine and drink while you putt.
Guests can choose to play on 25 famous courses, like Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, St. Andrews and Bethpage Black. Options include playing nine or 18 holes, having long drive competitions, or simply practicing. On site lessons will help with your non-virtual game and they will be adding a "pro shop."
On the current "elevated pub fare" menu, some different choices than served in the upstairs Theaters. Already promised, the "Hangover Burger," "pork belly corn dogs," "Buffalo chicken sliders" and "classic fish and chips," all delivered direct to your suite. Craft beer and cocktails will also be available.
Aiming for an early 2017 debut, opening hours and prices have yet to be revealed.
