A soul food switcheroo has finally been completed on the westside, after the project mysteriously disappeared for three months. Located close to the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Washington Avenue, Side Chix Cafe is now serving Southern-inspired favorites, upgraded with their own "secret recipes."
Formerly home to Tyrone Patterson's Mamma's Boy Cafe, within days of revealing Side Chix was on the way, the owners removed all traces of online media, which had included some entertaining trash talk against competitors. Their surprise undercover return and debut has toned down the bravado and they are letting their menu do the talking, featuring dishes "made like yo MomaNam use to make it."
Promising "fresh ingredients and irresistible food," now available in generous portions is a full and growing roster including fried chicken, gumbo, tamales, wings, catfish sliders, "beef hot links," collard greens, candied yams, smothered pork chops and peach and apple cobbler.
