The San Francisco Chronicle restaurant critic and editor at large Michael Bauer scoured Las Vegas to find out if the city has a "culinary soul." And while he tours Bardot Brasserie, Giada and Lago by Julian Serrano on the Strip, he devotes most of his article to restaurants on the west side, Downtown and in Chinatown. Of note, Eat, Chow, Andiron Steak & Sea, Flock & Fowl,  Arawan Thai Bistro, Therapy, Glutton and Carson Kitchen are just some of the places that make an appearance. "Las Vegas is on the road to being a culinary destination that transcends the glitz and jet-setting celebrity chefs." [SFC]

The New York Daily News dreams of the day when the Oakland Raiders make the move to Las Vegas, an idea Sands chairman Sheldon Adelson is heading up with a proposed $1 billion stadium. One hope, instead of concession stands, "install the world’s longest buffet line, wrapping around every level of the stadium." Wouldn't a Michael Mina Tailgate be more in tune with the times?
