The James Beard Foundation just announced the semi-finalists for the 2016 restaurant and chef awards, and a few Las Vegas restaurants made the cut.
For Best New Restaurant, Michael Mina’s Bardot Brasserie at Aria earned a nomination.
For Outstanding Restaurateur, Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla of Blau & Associates with Honey Salt, Made LV, Andiron and others; Sam Fox of Fox Restaurant Concepts in Phoenix, who has Culinary Dropout at the Hard Rock Hotel; and Michael Mina of Mina Restaurants with four restaurants in Las Vegas earned nods.
For Outstanding Service, José Andrés’ Beverly Hills restaurant Saam at the Bazaar received a nomination.
For Outstanding Wine Program, Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in Beverly Hills won a slot.
And for Best Chef: New York City, Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi of Carbone, which also has a location at Aria.
Rick Moonen at RM Seafood at Mandalay Place was nominated for Best Chef West.
