Cigars are back in vogue, judging by the millions of investment dollars upgrading and adding plush new lounges to Las Vegas. The last 12 months have seen the arrival of the Davidoff Cigar Bar to the front of the Fashion Show mall, En Fuego Cigars expanding to Henderson and the impending arrival of the Montecristo Cigar Bar to Caesars Palace from the minds behind recently remodeled Casa Fuente at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
Now comes word locals Malecon Tobacco won't be stubbing out their ambitions once their Montecristo lounge debuts. The team are reviving their Cigarbox concept, launching a cigar lounge and wine bar on Dean Martin Drive behind Caesars Palace. The original Cigarbox store at 1900 Western Ave. shuttered earlier this year. Under the Freyboy Tobacco company name, Malecon also operates the Empire Cigars and Colosseum Cigars kiosks inside New York-New York and Caesars Palace.
Cigarbox will fill 2,500 square feet of office and warehouse space with a lounge, "internet table," a humidor, wine bar and restrooms. In February, Freyboy expressed hope they would be open by the end of March.
