The James Beard Foundation just announced the finalists for the 2016 restaurant and chef awards, and a few Las Vegas restaurants made the cut.
For Best New Restaurant, Michael Mina’s Bardot Brasserie at Aria was a semi-finalist, but was not named a finalist.
For Outstanding Restaurateur, Michael Mina of Mina Restaurants with four restaurants in Las Vegas was named a finalist. Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla of Blau & Associates with Honey Salt, Made LV, Andiron and others and Sam Fox of Fox Restaurant Concepts in Phoenix, who has Culinary Dropout at the Hard Rock Hotel did not move on.
And for Best Chef: New York City, Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi of Carbone, which also has a location at Aria, were named finalists.
Rick Moonen at RM Seafood at Mandalay Place was nominated for Best Chef West but was not named a finalist.
