BLT Burger at the Mirage was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Wednesday, March 16, after a re-inspection.
BLT Burger initially earned a 39-demerit C grade from the health department on March 8. Inspectors returned on March 16 to find potentially hazardous dishes improperly cooled, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures, hot and cold holding equipment missing and more, earning the restaurant 19 demerits. SNHD will shut down a restaurant if a re-inspection has some of the same demerits found during the previous inspection.
BLT Burger demerits
BLT Burger has earned two other C grades since it opened in 2008.
The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
