It's been an up and down ride for restaurateur Carmine Vento, who has been making pizzas locally since 1975. Now, with decades of ventures under his belt, his Carmine's Pizza Kitchen concept is proving a success and will be expanding from Henderson to Spring Valley. The lunch and dinner restaurant will become tenant 160 at the Longford Shoppes at Southern Hills.
The 1,400-square-foot space sits near neighbors Chun Fai and Glaze Doughnut. Vento created Villa Pizza in 1976 in the Commercial Center, building it into a seven-location Las Vegas franchise, before selling off his ownership in 2000. Other ventures followed, such as Ventano Italian Grill & Seafood, earlier attempts at the Pizza Kitchen name and the shuttered Carmine's Little Italy. But in 2014 he returned to his roots, relaunching Carmines Pizza Kitchen at 2520 W. Horizon Ridge in Henderson.
The Spring Valley location is hiring and promising a "coming soon" debut. On the menu at the original site, hot and cold subs, antipasti, stuffed pizzas, pastas such as linguine, fettuccine alfredo and lasagna, as well as chicken or eggplant parmigiana, meatballs and fried ravioli.
