Mark Shunock drops his starring role as Lonny, the narrator in Rock of Ages, to take on a new way to express his creativity. The creator of Mondays Dark, which brought in stars from the Strip and beyond once a month to perform for charity, just became the creative director of Intrigue, the new nightclub opening April 28 at Wynn Las Vegas in the former Tryst space. Expect Shunock’s eclectic taste in entertainment — in all of its forms — to be a part of the nightclub.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, native and former Canadian Hockey League player first pursued an acting career in New York City, moving on to Los Angeles to perform in theater shows. He earned a Helen Hayes nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Timon in Disney's The Lion King as well as a 2014 Angel Award for Cultural Advocate/Entertainer of the Year in Las Vegas.
Shunock’s Mondays Dark brings together four to six guests including stars from Hollywood, Vegas headliners, musical acts, athletes and celebrity chefs for 90 minutes of chat and entertainment in a talk show setting. Each month, he hopes to raise $10,000 for a different Las Vegas-based charity. His next event takes place on Monday, March 21, at Vinyl at the Hard Rock Hotel and benefits the Fire Fighters Burn Foundation.
When open, Intrigue plans to party every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m.
