Celebrity chef Mario Batali opened his third Books for Kids/Mario Batali Foundation Library at the Acelero Spring Valley Learning Center on Tuesday.
He read "Green Eggs and Ham" to children, and then chefs from the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group served up a breakfastthat included breakfast burritos with green eggs and ham.
The 161-square-foot library holds almost 1,000 books, many of which are for bilingual readers, with a range of reading materials for children from one month to 12-years-old. The Acelero Spring Valley Learning Center serves 325 children year-round, from the ages of one month to five-years-old, with 65.6 percent of the children at the Spring Valley site living below the poverty line.
The new library marks the 11th library the foundation has funded nationwide.
On Sunday afternoon, Batali and restaurateur Joe Bastianich hung out at Tao Beach at the Venetian with family and friends. The group sat in a VIP cabana and ordered chicken wings while taking photos with fans.
