Last month, the Boulevard Mall saw the debut of Olivia's Latin Cuisine Bar & Mariscos, the mall's first formal dining option and now owners Roland Sansone and his Sansone Companies are progressing with another long-term ambition, creating their own sports bar.
The 6,279-square-foot project is moving forward with the tentative name of The Boulevard Sports Bar, building a bar and restaurant almost 1,000 feet larger than Olivia's. Designed for empty tenant space 100, current leasing maps place that plot on an outside corner of the mall, facing the parking lot and seated between Shiekh Shoes and Macy's. Early permits were first submitted last August, with new updated paperwork recently filed.
No timetable or announcement for the bar has been revealed, but this won't be their only major enhancement this year. Sea Quest Aquarium will unveil a 25,000-square-foot attraction this fall, featuring seahorses, sharks, octopuses, stingrays, tropical fish, sea turtles and sea otters.
Late last year also saw the arrival of John's Incredible Pizza Co. and Asian-American supermarket 99 Ranch Market, as Sansone continues their mission to lure customers back to the long-neglected retail hub.
