You have until June 27 to get your original fried Twinkies at Mermaids. Derek and Greg Stevens, who own the D Las Vegas, Golden Gate and the Las Vegas Club, bought Mermaids and La Bayou casinos, as well as adult entertainment mainstay Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch, all under the canopy of Fremont Street Experience.

Mermaids is like the king of deep-fried Twinkies, using a separate fryer for the delicacies to keep the flavor intact. Bonus: they’re only 99 cents. You can find deep-fried Oreos, deep-fried peanut butter and jelly, and chocolate-covered bananas.

Last year, Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch, Fremont Street Experience's only topless venue, wanted to compete with other Fremont Street venues by opening a 674-square-foot of bar out front, or perhaps to the side of the venue, well known for its infamous signage.

The move was a response to the recent trend of outdoor Fremont Street bars, including Bar 46 at the Golden Nugget, Cowgirl Up Cantina and Whiskey Licker Bar at Binion’s and the Golden Gate's One and Flair bars that sit across the plaza from Glitter Gulch.

Current employees of Mermaids and La Bayou will be offered priority interview opportunities for new positions at the D and Golden Gate.
