Executive chef Michelle Zerla has been delivering her macarons to local restaurants and the public by appointment since 2012, but Sweets 507 will now be serving to anyone who visits their new storefront in Henderson. Plus, they will be stocking some local favorites next to the macarons.
With her two business partners, Sweets 507 will debut Friday, April 29, at 3 p.m., inside the former Lil Brown Sugar's Cupcakes Cafe at the Champion Village Plaza retail center.
One section of the store will be dedicated to gelato from Desyreé Alberganti's Gelatology, who operate 16 miles to the west. Zerla has been providing macarons to Alberganti to pair with her very highly-praised gelato.
The Sweets 50 philosophy is to offer all natural macarons, made with their "own chocolate fudge, caramels, jams and buttercream." They create as many as 60 different flavors, plus "eight handcrafted marshmallow flavors, butter pecans, toffees, handcrafted truffles and caramels." Zerla's culinary career includes time at the former Alex at Wynn Las Vegas and miX at Mandalay Bay.
Also available in the new store, selections from locals Terri Sue's Cakes, who will be making available their normally special order "Lava Mama's Lava Cakes," cupcakes, cookie towers and "Kentucky Bourbon Balls." Their lava cakes are currently part of the menu at Henderson's Bad Owl Coffee shop.
The Sweets 507 macarons can also be found at Bad Owl, at select locals Wholefoods Markets and is part of the VIP amenity program at the Trump International Hotel.
