McDonald's OUT at South Strip MGM Resorts Food Courts

No more dollar menus for down on their luck gamblers

In a quiet coup, McDonald's have disappeared from the food courts at the MGM Grand, Excalibur, Luxor and Monte Carlo, leaving an outpost at Circus Circus as the chain's only home within the MGM Resorts family. The closest south Strip location for an authentic "Egg McMuffin" is now the Harrah's Casino McDonald's.

Two of the locations already have future tenants lined up. At the Excalibur's Castle Walk Food Court plywood is promising B&B is "coming soon," serving burgers, breakfast, fries and alcohol infused milkshakes, twenty-four hours a day.

A possible problem for the venture could come from Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, who began using the name B&B Burger & Beer at the Venetian in late 2013. They also serve burgers, fries and alcohol infused milkshakes.

At the MGM Grand, the eighth local Johnny Rockets burger chain from Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group is under construction and began hiring before the McDonald's closure. Fifth Avenue operates their quick-serve brands in all of the MGM Resorts south Strip properties.

Over at the Monte Carlo, the prominent plywood in the food court is still blank, with signage encouraging guests to head the The Pub or the The Buffet at the resort for breakfast options.

The Luxor location also currently features a blank slate, advertising the property's Blue Man Group show. It is rumored to become yet another retro-themed Johnny Rockets.
