A single section of Casino Center Boulevard has been the scene of a couple of high-profile failures to revitalize the area; the abandonment of construction on The Hawthorne bar, lounge and speakeasy and the end of chef Brain Howard's plans for Grazing Pig Charcuterie and Harvest & Larder inside the former Winfield Manor retail building. But a new "third wave" coffee roaster now hopes to bring some life back to the downtown block.
Aiming for a summer debut, Vesta Coffee Roasters intend to expand their online retail coffee business into a fully-fledged "roastery" and coffee shop. They will be taking over the shuttered, 2,169-square-foot Reclaimed Art Suppliez store. Vesta will sit one block east from the original neighborhood "urban coffee bar," Makers & Finders.
A rendering on the brand's Twitter feed hints the space will feature booths, an industrial-chic design and a coffee bar with stools for guests to sit right up close to the pouring action. Collating their coffee from around the world, current Vesta offerings have been sourced from Columbia, Kenya, Guatemala and Ethiopia.
