Henderson's crown princes of custom cakes and cupcakes are expanding 20 miles northwest, bringing their showbiz-themed desserts to the furthest tip of south Summerlin in Spring Valley. Showboy BakeShop will be taking over the shuttered, 1,013-square-foot Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt at the Hualapai Village Center, on the southeast corner of Hulapai and Desert Inn, already home to a Starbucks and a Subway.
Opened by Stephen Lowry and Jared Sullivan on Anthem Village Drive in March 2013, the team combines their very vocal support of Las Vegas theatrical arts and their talents for custom baking. Previous competitors on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars and Cake Wars, their cakes are a frequent centerpiece of opening night parties on the Strip.
The theatrical theme extends to the favors. "The Great White Way" is a coconut cake with coconut buttercream and flakes and "The Bombshell" is a sweet strawberry cake paired with champagne buttercream and topped with pearl bubbles. Also on the menu, cookies, coconut macaroons, truffles and cake pops. Single cupcakes are priced at $3 each, with a dozen for $33.
The new location is promised to be "coming soon."
