The Commercial Center's Cornish Pasty Co. had hoped to debut an expanded relocation to Charleston Boulevard later this month, but updated plans are still making their way through the permit process. The company believes the larger space will draw new fans to their British pasty creations and also welcome guests who just want to have drink at their bar.

Inside a 7,508-square-foot former fabric store store will be room enough for 50 in the bar area and 145 in the restaurant. As diners walk in, plans show they will spy the central open-plan kitchen and choose to eat right up close to the cooks, at the U-shape bar or at tables that hug the walls. The larger footprint will also include a 2,018-square-foot patio that has access to the alley to the rear.

Hoping in the future to add bike racks on Charleston, customers can opt to play a round of pool at the two proposed tables, or just hang at the bar. Previously, guests needed to buy food to order alcohol.

Already planned, an expanded version of their original menu based around variants of their meat and vegetable filled, semicircle baked pastry, finished with a crimped edge for easy of handling. A popular favorite is their classic style Oggie, made with steak, potatoes, onion and rutabaga and served with a side of red wine gravy or ketchup.

Opening hours are expected to be daily from 11 a.m to 11 p.m and until 2 a.m on weekends.
